If in the past post we talk about handmade fairs, today we focus on the main painting and illustration fairs 2017. Whether you are a professional, amateur or looking for an inspiring event, sign up for these fairs. This 2017 is full of events that you can not miss.
Painting and Illustration Fairs 2017:
Feria ARCO Madrid 2017 – International Contemporary Art Fair
ARCO is probably the most important fair of contemporary art and painting in our country. Artists and galleries from all over the world will be at the fair from 22 to 26 February in Madrid. Some examples are: ADN Gallery (Barcelona), Christopher Grimes (Santa Monica, USA) or ARCADE (London).
If you want to know the latest trends in art, current styles of painting or innovative techniques, this is one of the best painting and illustration fairs.
For professionals will be allocated on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23, from 12 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On the other hand, it will be open to the public on Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26, from 12 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The chosen space is the fairground of Madrid, specifically the pavilions 7 and 9. The average price per general admission is around 26 € per person.
Drawing Room Madrid
Parallel to the ARCO fair will take place the Drawing Room. It is an event centred on contemporary drawing, which will also be held in Madrid from 22 to 26 February.
In this case, the Drawing Room will take place at Calle de Velázquez number 12 in Madrid and the price per general admission is € 7.
Drawing Room París
After the fair in Madrid, takes place the Paris fair, March 22 and 23 2017. In this case the Drawing Room takes place in the emblematic building “Le carreau du temple”, a reference in modern art. This space will host some of the world reference galleries, but above all conferences and workshops. It is in these activities where we will find artists and ideas that can contribute much to our projects. For this reason, it is one of the most important painting and illustration fairs.
The address is: rue Eugène Spuller, number 4 – 75003 Paris. The price per general admission is € 16.
Bologna Book and Illustration Fair
It is our favourite fair. The Bologna International Book Fair is for illustrators the key event of the year. It is not only the artists, but also publishers, distributors, professionals in the drawing world … This is, without a doubt, the reference fair in Italy and one of the most important in Europe.
We must not forget that it is celebrated in Bologna, a small Italian city, and prices go up quite a bit. So you should book your hotel, entrance, stand or appointment with editors at least 3 months before. Luckily, the dates of this fair are held every year almost the same (late March, early April). This will allow us to make a better planning, even from one year to another.
If we present 5 illustrations to the competition of the Fair, before October 3, we can get a free entry. Also, there is a wall where illustrator artists can show their works with their contact, being able to make their work known directly to the public. There are also courses for professionals and amateurs differentiated by categories and techniques.
To attend, it is advisable to arrange an appointment with an editorial that can offer you an invitation. First of all it is a professional fair and networking is the priority. Even so, you can pay the general entrance, which has a price of € 28 per person per day.
Foire de Paris
Foire de Paris is an event that brings together exhibitors on architecture, interior design, decoration, DIY, appliances … For this reason, it can be a perfect opportunity to meet other professionals directly. And that is this year makes emphasis on the values of crafts, dedicating a part exclusively to this sector.
We will be able to know the latest trends in decoration and home, points to consider for our future projects.
The Foire de Paris fair will take place from 27 April to 8 May 2017 at the Paris Porte de Versailles 1 (Paris).
We could not miss the Ilustrisima Madrid Fair on this list. Each year is celebrated at the end, next to Christmas dates. In this case, it is a fair to people who are beginning in the world of drawing and want to take the step into the professional world. Therefore, it is an important event, whether to meet new artists or to keep abreast of new trends and styles.
One of the top elements we can see in the fair is the assembly of each stand / exhibitor with biodegradable materials such as cardboard. This allows to give a unique visual appearance, besides giving greater prominence to the works.
The Ilustrisima Madrid fair takes place in December at the ABC Museum – Center for Art – Drawing – Illustration (Amaniel Street, 29-31) in Madrid.
We leave it here for today. And you have already thought about which painting and illustration fairs are you going to visit? Do you know any more and would you like to share it? Leave us your comments 🙂
