European Craft Days 2022

17/03/2022 by Labois Leave a Comment

From 28 March to 3 April 2022, the European Crafts Days will be held, a week focused on promoting the diversity of handmade activities in Spain. If you work professionally in the production of handmade products, these days will be of interest to you.

European Craft Days: origin and objectives

The European Crafts Days have their origin in Les Journées Européennes des Métiers d’Art, organised in France by Institut National des Métiers d’Art (INMA) since 2002. Spain joined the project with the most extensive and diverse programme of activities. In 2022, these days will be held simultaneously in 18 countries..

This initiative is promoted by the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI), public foundation – and the first business school in Spain – its area of crafts promotion, Fundesarte, and Oficio y Arte, Organización de los Artesanos de España.

The aim of this conference is to bring the work and know-how of professionals in the fields of ceramics, jewellery, wood, iron, textiles, etc. closer to the general public, paying special attention to the dissemination of their enormous wealth, mastery and uniqueness.

For a week, free activities will be held to bring visitors and the curious closer to the sphere of craft creation, its techniques and products. These activities will include fairs, open doors in workshops, practical demonstrations, exhibitions, activities for children,…

Advantages of participating in the European Crafts Days

During these seven days, handmade will be the main character and all artisans who wish to participate are invited to do so. If you are a craftsman, this is a great opportunity to show your brand, your business and your products. All kinds of projects are taking part, so Labois encourages you to put aside your shyness and participate, show your creations and share your work procedures with the public.

This will allow you to put your business at the same level of visibility as other companies (or even your competence), but above all you will gain transparency and proximity, something that in a sector such as crafts, is of vital importance. You will also generate content for your website, blog or social media (if you want to optimise your online presence, Labois we can help you). In addition, the people who come to see your proposal will be potential customers, potential prescribers or people who will surely share their experience on social networks (giving an extra free diffusion to your business).

How can you register your activity as an artisan in these days?

The registration period for activities for craftsmen and craftswomen and public and private institutions is open on the website diasdelaartesania.es. The activities will be progressively updated in the programme of proposed activities, where you can already see some of them.

Who can propose activities to be included in the European Crafts Days programme?

Any craftsman or craftswoman, entity related to arts and crafts or training centres.

What are the requirements?

In order to be able to offer our activity, it is necessary:

  • Exercise a craft trade or have a link with this sector, such as being a public or private entity in the sector, training centre, association, etc.
  • Commit to actively participate in this event and offer activities in their workshop or organisation.
  • Participate in this event free of charge and undertake not to ask for a financial participation from the public.
  • To respect the dates and opening times communicated in the programme.
  • If you are unable to participate in the event for professional reasons, please inform the person in charge of the autonomous community as soon as possible, in order to be removed from the official programme.
  • Use the communication elements provided.

How is the registration process?

To propose an activity you must first register as a user on the European Crafts Days website. To do so, click on the tab “Registro de actividades” on the top right hand side of the website. On the next page, click on “Crear una cuenta“. Once there, a valid e-mail address must be entered. An e-mail will be sent to the indicated account with the user validation instructions for which a password must be created.

Then click in the horizontal menu on the tab “Crear actividad“. A form will open and must be filled in with all the data related to the proposed activity. Images, a document (either a poster, programme, etc. of the activity), website, social networks, contact details, etc. can be added. Once all the information has been entered, the “save” button must be marked as a draft. Once the activity has been saved, you must wait for the regional coordination to validate it. When it is validated it will appear in the programme.

If you want to know more about the European Craft Days, you can access the official website, as well as consult last year’s report.
